There's a young hickory tree in the south cemetery in Woodbury, CT that appears to have had a tumultuous life. Standing alone, out in the open, perhaps it gained it's distictive curve early in life as it dealt with a stiff north wind. Or maybe it just had a little bit of bad luck somewhere along the way. Whatever the case, it has intrigued and beguiled me for the past several years and I return regulary to photograph its curved silhouette against an ever-changing New England sky.
